Collision generation and IEEE 802.3

Ronja Metropolis doesn't generate collisions and thus doesn't works with half duplex hubs. Is this a violation of IEEE 802.3?

No, it's not a violation. See IEEE 802.3, Part 3: CSMA/CD access method and physical layer specifications, page 109, 7.2.1.2 PMA to PLS interface: "In systems operating in full duplex mode, it is permitted, but not required, to implement the signal_quality_error message." Page 111, 7.2.1.2.3 signal_quality_error message: "The PMA sublayer sends a signal_quality_error message to the PLS sublayer in response to any of three possible conditions. These conditions are improper signals on the medium, collision on the medium [...] In systems operating in full duplex mode, it is permitted, but not required, to implement the signal_quality_error message."
